Jesus Calms the Storm
Mark 4:35-40 NIV
35 That day when evening came, he said to his disciples, “Let us go over to the other side.” 36 Leaving the crowd behind, they took him along, just as he was, in the boat. There were also other boats with him. 37 A furious squall came up, and the waves broke over the boat, so that it was nearly swamped.
38 Jesus was in the stern, sleeping on a cushion. The disciples woke him and said to him, “Teacher, don’t you care if we drown?” 39 He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Quiet! Be still!” Then the wind died down and it was completely calm. 40 He said to his disciples, “Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?”

Let’s Pray together!
Coming before you, holding fast to your promise that we
can come to you with a clean heart and pray. These days, we need a word from you. How can we come before you with words that could convey all that we feel? How do we humble ourselves enough so that you will want to hear from us? With so much going on in the world that may be new to us but is age-old to you, where do we stand?
Wherever this world might be heading, we thank you for being there, your patience, and all that you have been, are, and will be. Thank you, God!!
Storms are brewing on every hand, and debris keeps trying to sweep us up in the tempest. We keep trying to stand firm in the waves and hold on to our faith in all you promise.
So many who lead are being blown and tossed in ways that would drown your creation. However, you stand and steady the
ground while inviting us to come into the protection of your loving embrace.
At this moment, we ask that you continue to be with us, increase our faith, please be patient with us, and love us unconditionally.
Give us wisdom, so that others will hear your word coming from our lips. Grant us a loving and forgiving spirit, so that as you forgive us, we will forgive others.
Let your light shine through us out into this troubled world. God, who is in heaven, please quiet and protect us from the storms.
It is in your matchless name that we pray, Amen.
